Cashing checks on Black Friday (Texas at Texas A&M)

While everyone else is battling crowds for the “greatest deal on earth,” sit back and make some cash with KingsOfVegas.com on Friday.

On Thanksgiving, we squeaked out the 2-1 day after Detriot forgot to show up against the Falcons. Still, that is a profit and profit is good.

For Friday’s action, we are taking the contrarian play with the Aggies. While this isn’t the NFL, Texas will likely come out gunning, get the lead and sit the starters to keep everything alive for the Big 12 Championship Game and their shot at the BCS Championship. The line has creeped from the open of Texas -23 to -27.5 and even 28 in some online books. Texas A&M has been embarrassed by their collapse and will likely be looking to at least save some face by playing tough.

Take Texas A&M +27.5

OddJack.com Gone

It was announced this past week that Oddjack.com, Gawker Media’s gambling news blog, will be shut down on December 2.

Nick Denton stated on his blog:

Blog titles are like new TV shows. Some make it; some don’t. Oddjack, Gawker Media’s gambling site, was one of the ones that didn’t. And it’s best to cancel the show sooner rather than later.

A.J. Daulerio, the editor, is a trooper, and an amusing writer, but the audience was never there. Gawker traffic stats are public, so that’s been pretty obvious to anyone who checks the numbers. Gamblers want to gamble; it seems they don’t particularly want to read about gambling, however.

So we’re closing down Oddjack by the end of the month. We’d rather concentrate our energies on sites such as Deadspin, which have buzz and a growing audience, and new launches, which have equal potential. The moral of the story: it’s easy to launch sites; much harder to make them popular.

A.J., if you happen to stop by and read this, you are more than welcome to pop in here from time to time.

Thanksgiving Green

3-0 on Monday night since we started this site a couple weeks ago.

Let’s get some Turkey Day action on the table to get ourselves set up for Black Friday.

First off, Atlanta’s defense has been in the crapper the last couple weeks which is good news Lions. We aren’t convinced either side wants to win this game, but the one thing we do know is that points will be plenty. Taking a side in this game is a foolish proposition.

Take the Over as long as it is still sitting under 44.5

In Dallas, we were on the ball enough to get some action in when the line was still favoring Dallas by a point. Even with the adjustment (Denver -2) the Donkeys are still good money. 33-17 Denver. Dallas won’t even see what hit them.

Take Denver -2
Take the OVER (41)
