Akron v. Memphis. Flip a freakin’ coin on the side of this game. Memphis is a 4 point favorite, having been bet down from a 6.5. Offenses and defenses are matched up for exploitation which may be better described as a shootout. We’re leaning towards Akron on the side but that money is staying in our pocket. Our green-in-play is on the OVER which we think is a steal at 50.5.

Take the OVER 50.5 if you need some action on this game, but otherwise catch the final Monday Night Football game on ABC.

The Hawaii Bowl

For Saturday, Nevada takes on Central Florida. Kind of a tough game for us to get a read on, but we are going with our gut and ridign the Wolfpack.

Fort Worth Bowl

A split last night in the Vegas and Poinsettia Bowls because Cal couldn’t close out BYU. Bowl record to date: 2-2.

Tonight the Jayhawks take on take on Houston. Houston isn’t even in the same competitive league as the Big 12, and Kansas’ defense is usually a force to be reckoned with. We like Kansas, but the key will be whether or not their offense shows up.

Poinsettia Bowl

Bah, Humbug. The Miner’s didn’t show up last night in the GMAC bowl. We lost and are now 1-1 on the bowl season.

BYU v. Cal in the Las Vegas Bowl. What can you say, BYU is outclassed in athletic ability.

GMAC Bowl

UTEP v. Toledo. Two teams which jump off the board as yawners from their respective conferences. The MAC is 4-0 in the GMAC Bowl, but UTEP has headcoach Mike Price. Anyone who can lose his job (at Alabama) due to booze and strippers before ever coaching a game is guy we like. Not to mention the Miners had a string of dismal 2 win seasons before he took over last year. The result with Price at the helm: 2 straight bowl appearances and a 16-7 record thus far.

Mighty impressive. Impressive enough to break the MAC’s hold on the GMAC title.

Take UTEP +3 in a straight-up win.

New Orleans Bowl

We took it on the chin last night. We’ve always said you can’t handicap injuries and the Packers suffered 4 in the first half. Besides that, Favre looked like crap chucking the ball with a wing and a prayer.

New Orleans Bowl on tap for tonight. Two backdoor bowl-eligible teams fighting for honor. Southern Miss is getting way too many points for a game that should be a defensive battle.

Frank Solich DWI Conviction – Odds Posted on Job Status

ATHENS, Ohio — Ohio coach Frank Solich was convicted of drunken driving Monday, two days after police spotted him slumped over the wheel of his vehicle.

Solich, in his first season with the Bobcats, pleaded no contest and was ordered to complete a three-day driver intervention program. He also had his license suspended for 180 days and was fined $250.

The former Nebraska coach apologized in court. He declined to comment afterward.

The university, in a statement released before his court appearance, said Solich would remain in charge of the Bobcats as it monitored the case.

Solich, 61, appeared to be passed out when police found him Saturday night in the vehicle, which was facing the wrong direction on a one-way street and in drive, according to a police report.

Anyone care to post odds on the job status? Cosidering the man was passed out at the wheel with the car in drive, this is more than the garden variety ‘one too many and ran a stop sign.’ The handicapper in me would start the moneyline at losing his job -175 but we’ll leave that to the experts.
