The Cyclones were eaten by the Big Guy

Two years in a row they walk into their final game needing a win to rep the North in the Big 12 Championship and two years in a row they crap the bed. Two years in a row they go to OT against a team they led early and couldn’t put away.

I’m sure the Fighting Manginos will enjoy their bowl game - especially after playing the role of spoiler. Mark Mangino is a true coach, and he is about 4 players away from putting together a team that could challenge anyone in the Big 12.

We stuck to our guns as we said we would. We lost the early game so we called it a day. Had we won and played some more; Virginia Tech showed up in the second half and covered. But the Irish looked sloppy and let Stanford hang around the whole game.

See you back here Sunday morning for some NFL action.

Saturday Late Action

If and when our Iowa State play hits the green, we’ll have some late game action. We aren’t chasing the green though; this is an “if we win early, we play a couple late” proposition.

Virginia Tech is a -24.5 shot against North Carolina. The public has bumped the line up from 21 and while we don’t always like to chase the rising line, this game will be horribly one-sided as the Hokies control their own destiny into the ACC Championship. The Tarheels are weak on defense and won’t be able to move the ball against the Tech D.

Take Virginia Tech -24.5 (but ignore this game above 25.5)

Notre Dame is BCS bound with a win at Stanford. This line opened at the Irish -17 and has been bet down to -15/-15.5. Notre Dame is too explosive to justify this low number and this game will be a blowout.

Take Notre Dame -15.5

We’re a damn ATM (Iowa State at Kansas)

Aggies, we salute you as KingsOfVegas.com cashes out more green on Black Friday.

For Saturday, we’ve got a big play on Iowa State -3 at Kansas. Thanks to Nebraska throttling the hapless CU Buffs - who looked like they had a case of mad cow disease - Iowa State controls their own destiny in the Big 12 North and Dan McCarney won’t let that opportunity slip through his fingers like he did last year.

Kansas has no offense, and the Cyclone D will shut them down early.

Take Iowa State -3

We may have a second play in late afternoon action, so check back.

Cashing checks on Black Friday (Texas at Texas A&M)

While everyone else is battling crowds for the “greatest deal on earth,” sit back and make some cash with KingsOfVegas.com on Friday.

On Thanksgiving, we squeaked out the 2-1 day after Detriot forgot to show up against the Falcons. Still, that is a profit and profit is good.

For Friday’s action, we are taking the contrarian play with the Aggies. While this isn’t the NFL, Texas will likely come out gunning, get the lead and sit the starters to keep everything alive for the Big 12 Championship Game and their shot at the BCS Championship. The line has creeped from the open of Texas -23 to -27.5 and even 28 in some online books. Texas A&M has been embarrassed by their collapse and will likely be looking to at least save some face by playing tough.

Take Texas A&M +27.5

More Monday College Action (again, early week action in Ohio)

The MAC must be starving for money to play early week games for the sake of ESPN coverage. Tonight, Miami (Ohio) -10 at Ohio.

Seriously, if you need action on this game, you might need some help. We’d still suggest laying your money on the Vikings but then switch over and watch this game which just might offer a bit more in the watchability column.

Us? we’ll be poring over Tivo’d episodes of LOST looking for clues to Thursday’s Thanksgiving NFL action.

Bulldogs, nipping at the Trojan’s feet

The next to the last chance for someone to get their punches in on USC. Will it happen against Fresno State? Doubtful. But the Bulldogs getting 23 may be able to catch the Trojans looking forward to UCLA.

Get some small action in on Fresno State +23

Bill Snyder takes the next exit.

The news of the week in coaching circles is the retirement of Kansas State’s Bill Snyder. Having built the KSU football program from lows so bad that the administration was on the verge on killing it in the late 80’s to a perennial contender in the Big 12 North. It has been a hard season this year, and while we think the players would love to send him off to pina coladas and social security checks with a win, Mizzou will be out for blood.

Take Missouri +2.5

Karma Strikes Back

Even our very meager, and I stress meager, wages on the Ohio games, couldn’t keep us watching bad mid-major conference football on a Tuesday night. Luckily TBS came through with Sex in the City reruns and kept our mind off a double loss and giving back some of the money we shouldn’t have won on Monday [technically, the Bowling Green/Miami (Ohio) game wasn't finished at the time of this post, but barring a miracle run, a loss will be on the books].

Chalk it up to the first installment of “Win Riches Beyond Your Wildest Dreams by Betting Against The Kings Of Vegas.” In bookstores near you soon. One day we may even get to be as famous as Brandon Lane/Lang/Link/Whatever and get a movie made about us.

Ohio Fight Night

The battle for the MAC Championship game bid possibly ends tonight with Bowling Green traveling to Miami (Ohio). Both teams are tied for the lead in the MAC-East with two games to play. The team that wins out takes the crown.

Bowling Green can’t cover on the road this season, so our money is on Miami (Ohio) even with the big number.

Take Miami (Ohio) -9.5

The second game on the card is between the two teams currently tied for second place (one game back) in the MAC-East, Ohio at Akron. There were a lot of questions about what Frank Solich could do with the Bobcats, but wins in their final two games will make them bowl eligible and if our math is correct, give them the MAC-East lead assuming Miami (Ohio) wins tonight [Ohio faces Miami (Ohio) next week]. The Zips have the edge on paper, but we are going with coaching.

Take Ohio +3 in a straight up win

NCAA Football - Boise State at Fresno State

While the public money continues to pour in on the 20th ranked Fresno State Bulldogs in a game that could very likely decide the WAC championship, one has to wonder if next week’s match up against USC is creeping into their minds.

Boise State had the easier schedule this year, but with an offense pounding out over 46 points per game in conference play, they still deserve their props.

Fresno State is a bigger team and are unbeaten at home this season, but this game is essentially even matched. 10 points is a gift here and we see it coming out in one of two different ways, a field goal win either way, or a complete thrashing of the Bulldogs in a big upset thanks to the Looking Ahead factor.

As for the total, it has dropped 4 points from the opening line to 60/60.5. We are comfortable with the Over at that number and are projecting a final tally in the neighborhood of 68.

Take Boise State -10
Take the OVER at 60
